The Indian Telephone companies has billions of subscribers from the industry, that time they allow the customers to communicate with their friends and family by calling or messaging. At now this time, the telecom companies making indiscreet calls to the customers to selling and marketing their products by calling, messaging and full their inbox with promotions of messages, which can annoying all the user's at most times. To solve this problem, the Telecom Authority of India (TAI) has coming with a unique solution that is called DO NOT DISTURB (DND).

What is DND?

If you want to stop receiving unwanted and disturbing messages and call from telemarketing calls and messages, you have to register with your service provider’s and telling him for Do No Disturb registry. The service provider will have to turn register your number in the National Do Not Call (NDNC) register your number within 30 days.

The NDNC Registry is a database software which have the lot's of data and mobile number list of all telephone companies of the subscribers who want to stop receiving advertising calls or SMS. Companies have to verify number in the list of their numbers in the NDNC registry before call and sms. So the telemarketer companies will not disturbing you as they will be fined for sms and calling you.

How to register your number on the DND register?

If you select not want to receive any advertising messages or calls from any companies it will fully blocked the commercial and registration:

You have to call 1909 (toll free number) from your mobile or any landline and select your option. You can also registers your number by sending a SMS (START DND) or (START 0) to 1909.

If you have choosing to receive SMS from selected categories who you want or for blocking registration, you can also send a SMS in this type of sms START<space><preference no> to 1909. There are 8 preference numbers to choose :

START 0- Fully blocked all advertising, commercial.

START 1- Bank Loan, Insurance , Financial services and debit cards.

START 2- Real Estate, Property

START 3- Education, Study

START 4- Health insurance

START 5-  auto mobiles

START 6- Communicational , Broadcast , Entertainment and IIT

START 7- Tourism and Leisurewear

For just in few seconds, You can type START 4 from your mobile and send it to 1909, if you want to receive only sms of HEALTH. You can include more than two preference number START 4,6 to receive messages.

How To Deregister Your Number

First of all, You can deregister your number by calling on 1909 and also sending a SMS: STOP DND to 1909. Its very simple to deregister your mobile or landline number and You can only deactivate your number after 2 months or 60 days from your date of starting. The activation and deactivation of DND will be started within 5 days from the date of your registration number. Subscribers can also register online at their mobile operator’s websites.
